Rhodonite is a characterized by its vibrantly pink color and black veins. It is a manganese silicate mineral composed of other minerals such as calcite, iron, and magnesium, and is formed through extreme heat, pressure, and hydrothermal activity of contact metamorphism. The name originated from the Greek word “rhodos” meaning “rose colored.” It was first discovered in Argentina during the 1930’s and has since been highly prized as an ornamental stone.
