Charoite

Origin: Aldan Shield, Sakha Republic, Siberia, Russia
Mohs Hardness: 5-6

Charoite is a very rare silica rich, chatoyant mineral, first described in1978. It is named after the Chara River, despite its being 70 km away from the place of origin. Common impurities include aluminum, iron, manganese, strontium, and barium.  It is also known as “Lilac Stone” and “Charoite Jade”.

Metaphysically, Charoite is called the “stone of transformation” because it is used to aid the transformation of negative emotions to positive ones. It is also believed to encourage inner strength, assertiveness, creativity, and enhance self esteem.
